The Evolution Of Switch And Socket Wiring Methods
Evolution of wiring methods for switches and sockets
With the development of time, Wall Switch is also changing all the time, not only in terms of function or appearance, but also in step by step. The change of function means that the wiring method is also undergoing a series of changes. In summary, there are only four types of wiring methods for switches and sockets: screw crimping method, plate crimping method, quick wiring method, and saddle type wiring method.
At present, the wiring methods of switches and sockets on the market mostly adopt the screw crimping method, but the crimping method is different. The biggest advantage of this method is that the wiring is convenient and simple, and it is also very firm and not easy to disengage. The disadvantage is that the wires will be crushed or even broken during installation and wiring, which will cause the wires to heat up and catch fire over time, posing a safety hazard. The parallel plate crimping method is a later improvement. The advantage is that it will not cause damage to the wires. The disadvantage is that it cannot press and tighten two or more wires at the same time.
The advantages of quick wiring are simple and clear, that is, fast wiring speed and easy installation (no need to use tools such as screwdrivers). But its disadvantages are also very obvious. It is more convenient to insert in one direction, but it will be stuck when pulling out in the opposite direction. You need to poke the wire removal hole or press the wire removal button to pull out the wire. There are also many restrictions on the wires. Thick, thin, and soft wires are not suitable. The wires are pressed by the elastic force of the shrapnel, which is not firm and easy to burn out if the current is slightly large. Therefore, in the market, fast wiring products cannot become the mainstream of consumption.
The advantage of the saddle terminal wiring method is that the wiring hole is large, which is convenient for wiring. The disadvantage is that the thick and thin wires must be wrapped before they can be compressed. The saddle terminal wiring is still in the exploratory stage and is difficult to be recognized by consumers.
