Why Are Silicone Rubber Materials Used In Cold Shrink Cable Accessories?

Date: | Read: 86

Cold Shrink Cable Accessories primarily uses silicone rubber, whose elastomeric properties allow it to tightly wrap the accessories around the cable insulation surface through its own stress recovery during installation, without the need for a heat source or additional tools. This elastic recoil property of silicone rubber is crucial for the tight adhesion of the electrical insulation layer, while also providing a robust electrical barrier against various environmental factors.

Unlike traditional heat-shrink cable accessories that rely on external heat sources to heat the material, silicone rubber cold-shrink accessories are designed to be pre-expanded and assembled onto a removable core at the factory. During installation, by removing the core material, the silicone rubber quickly shrinks back, firmly securing the accessory to the cable assembly.
