Structural Description Of Cold Shrink Cable Accessories

Date: | Read: 2

The manufacturing process of Cold Shrink Cable Accessories involves injection molding of elastomeric materials (such as silicone rubber or ethylene propylene rubber) followed by secondary vulcanization to produce pre-expanded diameter fittings. These fittings are stretched and expanded in the factory, then fitted onto an internal support tube or spiral support, forming a structural system with support strips. During field installation, the pre-expanded diameter sleeve is fitted onto the treated cable joint, and then the internal support strip or support fitting is pulled out or removed, allowing the outer sleeve to tightly wrap around the cable insulation or joint due to the elastic recoil of the material.
