Requirements For The Distance Between Moving And Stationary Contacts Of High-voltage Disconnect Switches
According to domestic standards for electrical installations and high-voltage switchgear, the minimum distance between the moving and stationary contacts when the High Voltage Disconnect Switch is in the open position should be 160mm (approximately 160 millimeters). This is stipulated in industry standards such as GB/T1985, and its purpose is to meet the insulation distance requirements under certain voltage levels and to ensure that the contacts reach the specified insulation level when in the open position.
The setting of the moving-stationary contact distance is directly related to the electrical insulation performance of the equipment. High-voltage disconnect switches are mainly used for physically disconnecting circuits under no-load conditions. Unlike other switchgear with arc-extinguishing devices, they use the visible opening distance to indicate the circuit isolation status. Therefore, maintaining the specified contact opening distance allows maintenance personnel to visually assess the electrical isolation status.
