Environmental Humidity Requirements And Design Conditions For High Voltage Disconnect Switches
High Voltage Disconnect Switch In standard operating conditions, a key environmental parameter is relative humidity. For typical indoor installation environments, the daily average relative humidity should not exceed 95%.
This humidity limit applies to substations, distribution rooms, and high-voltage switchgear locations in general climate zones. Humidity levels exceeding this value may adversely affect the insulation and metal components of the disconnecting switch.
Designers should refer to this humidity limit during selection and construction, and confirm that the installation site environment meets the requirements. Monthly average relative humidity is also typically specified to be no greater than 90%.
If higher humidity is anticipated at the installation site, measures such as moisture-proofing, anti-condensation, ventilation, or dehumidification should be considered to maintain humidity within the permissible range.
