Electrical Hazards That Can Cause Short Circuits In Wall Switches

Short circuits of Wall Switch are not uncommon in the power distribution systems of residential or commercial buildings. When a short circuit occurs, the current deviates from its normal path and flows through lines with extremely low impedance, causing a surge in current. This can happen due to accidental contact inside the wall switch or at connection points.

Aging wiring or damaged insulation inside the wall switch is a common cause of frequent short circuits. During long-term operation, environmental factors or mechanical wear can cause the insulation of the wires in the wall switch to crack. When live wires come into contact with each other or with conductors such as metal boxes, an abnormal current path can occur.
