Application Of Cold Shrink Cable Accessories In The Sealing Field
When cable joints and terminations are constantly threatened by moisture intrusion, Cold Shrink Cable Accessories solves this problem through special materials and structural design. The product is made of silicone rubber or EPDM rubber, materials with excellent elastic recovery. During manufacturing, the rubber tube is pre-expanded and fitted onto a plastic spiral support strip. During installation, the support strip is removed, and the rubber tube shrinks elastically to fit tightly against the cable surface.
The sealing performance depends on the radial pressure of the rubber material. The inner diameter of the cold-shrink tubing is 3-5 mm smaller than the outer diameter of the cable, generating a continuous clamping force at the contact surface after shrinkage. This pressure tightly bonds the cable insulation layer, semi-conductive layer, and cold-shrink tubing together, leaving no gaps. Even during thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes, the elasticity of the rubber material maintains a constant contact pressure.
