When the outer insulation of component Wall Switch is damaged, the conductor may be partially exposed inside the switch box or wall. In a confined space, when the exposed conductor comes into contact with other metal components, grounding wires, or adjacent conductors, the current can deviate from the designed path, creating an unexpected loop. Such an abnormal path can cause a sharp increase in current and alter the originally controlled current flow, resulting in a short circuit.

Insulation damage can occur due to mechanical impact, long-term friction, or material aging. Once the protective layer loses its integrity, the exposed conductor loses its insulating function, and current can easily flow directly between two conductors at different potentials. This direct flow lacks the resistive control of a normal circuit, causing a sudden surge in current and increasing thermal stress on electrical equipment and wiring systems.
